A woman who made headlines after a video of her trapped behind a sofa went viral has revealed how bystanders suggested calling the fire department in a desperate bid to free her.

Lindsey Clark, from North Shields, appeared on This Morning today after she was filmed falling behind the seat as she tried to retrieve her friend’s coat at the end of a bottomless celebratory brunch birthday last weekend.

The 40-year-old had celebrated her friend Julie Jackson’s 47th birthday at the TwelveTwentyFive restaurant in the town of North Tyneside.

Instead of helping, her friends took the opportunity to record the unexpected moment, leaving restaurant staff to save her.

A now-viral video of the incident, which has garnered thousands of likes on Facebook, shows Lindsay’s legs and feet sticking out of the dining room corner, after she fell trying to bend over to grab the jacket.

After a battle that involved shooting at her shins, the 40-year-old was finally put back on the sofa, happily smiling.

In an interview with Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield on This Morning today, she explained how staff were forced to rescue her from her predicament – but not before suggesting emergency services were called.

The show’s hosts, who laughed at the clip and said “everyone” was talking about it, asked her about the hilarious incident.

She replied, “I told the [two restaurant staff]”That’s it, get us out now,”.

“I couldn’t have that, I would have been mortified. It would have been even more embarrassing.

Speaking about how she felt after the clip went viral, Lindsey added, “It’s just mental.” I mean, it’s funny, but I didn’t realize it was going to be so funny.

‘I always put stupid things on Facebook… I’m glad it’s [gone] viral if people think it’s funny.
