Fort Worth Fire Department battles multiple grass fires – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

The city of Fort Worth is battling multiple grass and bushfires Monday night, including one on Panther Island where a fireworks display was taking place.

In total, Fort Worth Fire Department officials have been dispatched to 77 grass and brush fires in the city, with a total of 145 fire calls so far Monday night. These calls do not include Panther Island where crews were on site and prepared for an emergency.

Fort Worth Fire Department officials said they wetted the grass at Panther Island on Monday and the week before as a precaution.

“It’s very dry. It’s windy. It’s incredibly dangerous. All it takes is a spark,” the fire department said in a tweet late Monday.
