First firefighting facility inaugurated at Lake Nigeen

Srinagar- Nigeen Lake witnessed the launch of its first firefighting installation at the Nigeen club on Saturday. Divisional Commissioner PK Pole was the guest of honor on this occasion.

According to the statement, in recent times, horrific fires have reduced many heritage properties to ashes.

The statement said the absence of water firefighters was deeply felt by houseboat owners.

The President of the Nigeen Tourist Traders Association (NTTA), Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo, expressed his satisfaction and happiness at the inauguration.

He said the initiative would go a long way in assisting houseboat owners in any unfortunate incident, especially in the event of a fire.

The grand opening was attended by houseboat owners, stakeholders, NTTA members, and officials from the fire and emergency and tourism department.

Speaking on the occasion, PK Pole said that these firefighting boats procured under the Smart City project will greatly help in fighting any accident and that the F&ES staff delegated to the Nigeen Club will be of great help. in this regard.

He said that in Dal Lake few boats have been deployed yet while in Nigeen two boats have been deployed today.

Meanwhile, Director of Tourism Dr. GN Itoo said the NTTA Chairman’s efforts were commended for his rigorous follow-up in delivering these firefighting boats to Lake Nigeen.

He also hopes that these firefighting boats will now create a sense of relief among stakeholders, especially barge owners.
